August 2nd, 2017 marked National Night Out in Haw River.  Neighborhoods in both Henry's Farm and in the Keck Road area held National Night Out events.  The event's featured hotdogs and refreshments, bounce houses and cornhole, and snow cones!

Hot Dog Fund Raiser 

                                                                              

The Haw River Police Department would like to thank everyone who came out for the Hot Dog Fund Raiser for Asst. Chief Scott Thomas on March 24th.  We would like to extend a special debt of gratitude for Sheriff Johnson and Chief Deputy Britt for their hard work in putting together the event. Nearly 1500 hotdogs, 30 pounds of chili, 5 galons of coleslaw, and 200 blocks of cheese were served.  

 

 

 

2016 D.A.R.E. Graduation

 

On Decemeber 16th The Haw River Police Department held the 2016 D.A.R.E. Graduation at Haw River Elementary School.  This year there were 79 D.A.R.E. graduates.  Each student took part in a ten lesson series that taught the dangers of tobacco and alcohol, how to avoid dangerous situations, dealing with stress, and how to deal with bullying.  The graduation featured guest speakers; Haw River Town Council Member Steve Lineberry and Patrick Wright from WFMY News 2.  Following the graduation the students were treated to a party in the gym featuring bounce houses and music. 

 

 

NO SHAVE NOVEMBER

 

This year for NO SHAVE NOVEMBER your police department joined with other Alamance County agencies to raise funds for the Cancer Center at Alamance Regional.  The Haw River Police were able to raise $540 for cancer care in Alamance County.

 

2016 Special Olympics Alamance Trail Run

 

On October 15th, 2016 the Haw River Police hosted the inaugural Special Olympics Alamance Trail Run.  The event was held at Red Slide Park and featured a 5k race and an 8 mile race along the Haw River Trail. 50 runners came out to support Special Olympics Alamance. The race brought in over $2000 for Special Olympics Alamance.   

 

 

2016 National Night Out

On August 2nd, 2016 the Haw River Police hosted it's first National Night Out at Municipal Park.  An estimated 200-250 people came out to enjoy live music, hot dogs, and neighborhood camaraderie.   The HRPD would like to thank "The Rewinders" and "The Jenna Bangle Trio" along with everyone else who pitched in to help put on this great event. We would especially like to thank all the citizens of Haw River who came out to the park.

HRPD LEADS THE WAY FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS NC TORCH RUN

 

On May 25th, 2016 the Haw River Police Department joined forces with the Mebane Police to carry the Special Olympics NC Flame of Hope across a 7 mile section of Alamance County.  Approximately 2000 officers carried the torch along it's 2000 mile journey across North Carolina.

HR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CAREER DAY

The Haw River Police were proud to participate in the 2016 Career Day at Haw River Elementary School.  Students in grades K-5 had the oppertunity to ask officers about their day to day work lives and find out what steps they need to take to become police officers.  Students also got the chance to check out a patrol car!

HRPD & The Lamb's Chapel team up to raise funds for HR Elementary Science Olympiad Team.

 

On April 16th and 17th, 2016 the police department and a large group of volunteers from The Lamb's Chapel joined together to help a group of very deserving students from Haw River Elementary.  A spaghetti dinner fundraiser was held to support the Science Olympiad & Battle of the Books clubs.  The spaghetti dinner raised nearly $8000.  All of the money goes directly to fund the Science Olympiad Team in the upcoming school year.
