Stormwater Development Fee Study - Public Comments - 8/13/2025

In June 2017, the North Carolina General Assembly ratified House Bill 436 “An Act to Provide for Uniform Authority to Implement System Development Fees for Public Water and Sewer Systems in North Carolina and to Clarify the Applicable Statute of Limitations”, thus amending Chapter 162A of the General Statutes by adding “Article 8, System Development Fees.” This is commonly referred to as the Public Water and Sewer SDF Act.

In accordance with the Public Water and Sewer SDF Act, the Town of Haw River retained the services of Stantec Consulting Services Inc., a professional engineering consulting firm, to complete a system development fee analysis and prepare an accompanying written report. Prior to adopting the calculated development fees, the Town must provide the public with an opportunity to review and comment for a minimum of 45 days.

The Town of Haw River is making the draft Water and Sewer System Development Fee Study available for public review on the Town’s website www.townofhawriver.com through 09/26/2025.

The Town of Haw River has recently completed it’s 2040 Comprehensive Land-Use Plan.  Although it has not been finalized yet, the Town will be holding a public hearing for the adoption of the plan on October 5th Town Council Meeting.  Any citizen wishing to read the plan can download it from the Town’s website in the “Town Document” section, or it’s available for public inspection in the Town Council Chambers.  Any questions, please contact Haw River Town Hall at (336) 578-0784.
